Invest in the best – A trouser tale
Now is a great time to start wardrobe planning for Winter! The sales are a good hunting ground for staples and trousers are a case in point. My clients say they wear them most of the time which means maybe 250 wearings a year. To stand up to all this work a trouser needs to be well built a great cut. 6 or 7 pairs you love is ideal, some for flats some for heels. Narrowing to the ankle, straight, a soft wider pair for evening etc.
With designer trousers costing upwards of £200 its worth spending some time trying on a lot of pairs after all the right pair makes us taller and thinner.
A go-to brand is Theory, Helmut Lang and Theyskens Theory. All made by same company.
At the better price end of the market I have had success at Massimo Dutti, just don’t look at the rest of the stuff. Uniqlo and Gap are fantastic for everyday trousers the cut is every bit as good as designer lables but with less fabulous fabric. At Maxmara and Jaeger big choice of sizes, useful, Harrods Luxury Collections Room, houses Italian Brands that are classic and well, luxurious. A trouser that slims rather than clings the calf, we are not looking for leggings, is often a bit gapey at the back, get them altered in the store and you will have the perfect pair.
Just to give you something else to look for at the same time. A leather jacket as soft as a cardigan is ideal for autumn days and evenings to slip over a dress or jeans. The Theory group again, but there are a lot around and may be you will find yours in a sale this summer. Happy Hunting.
