Above, from Dior Haute Couture collection Winter 2012. Raf Simons first Collection for Christian Dior he hints at Diors “New Look” from the 1950s. We are all familiar with the ballet length flared skirt, an elegent and feminine shape. Over the past few seasons other designers too have been encouraging a change of silhoutte.
Below, Cotton dress from Bottega Veneta from a few seasons ago, nice to see this look in a more casual style.
Below, older still! vintage style, but still that same hourglass
Below, Norma Kamali dress photographed by Paul Lange in Jamaica, with me as sylist, around 1985 maybe
Below, Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton a few seasons ago. This is a shape designers have been experimenting with for some time. perhaps with this Dior endorsement it will go viral yet.
My new black velvet shoes, £120 from www.shiptonandheneage.com with Grannie’s vintage buckles sewn on the front. Not quite as flat and fashiony as Penelope Chilvers lovely shoes, but much less expensive and that’s a plus, also they will order slippers in your size whatever color, lining, embroidery, you choose in a couple of weeks. They look so nice with anything from jeans to velvet palazzos, pretty nice at a party in a Palazzo too, should you get an invite. For fashionistas with more pizzas and cash, Marc Jacobs chunky Pilgrim-style buckled shoes are marvels and deliciously delirious. They have my vote as best in show for AW 2012
Norma Kamali still does some of the best Swimwear. Online from Normakamali.com, Net a Porter and Browns. Though just when you need it stocks are bit low in the UK. These are fabulous because somehow the draping slims and holds in. Norma Kamali has had years of perfecting the comfort and honing a few great shapes. On the left the one shoulder is from her her more economical line kamalikulture.com and is a snip at $60 on the right is her “Bill” two piece that also comes as a one-piece suit $350
Just love TOMS shoes for Summer, comfy comfy and so many to choose from, easy to buy from Office.
